Who knows what you will find inside Fringe? This new shop in the Myrtle Beach area is looking to fill a local need for a thriving art scene while combining a love of vintage with exhibition space for nearby artists. The husband and wife duo Randy and Burke Daniel have created a dream scene for this in their Murrells Inlet store. Five years ago, the pair opened Funky Fresh Fringe, A Vintage Shop in Surfside Beach. However, when a space became available in Murrells Inlet, the Daniels knew it was destiny. Fringe sits next to the popular Murrells Inlet restaurant Smuggler's Den and a future bakery, making the destination all the more appealing to tourists. Since moving to the new spot, they've noticed traffic from Charleston now reaches their store and Fringe's mission is able to impact a considerable number of art lovers in the area. Randy has transformed part of the Fringe into gallery space and has a waitlist that features more than a dozen artists. The gallery is curated by black and white portraitist Steven White, a grade school classmate of Randy's. When the gallery first debuted, Fringe held a party in July and interest from both buyers and artists was tremendous. Currently, Fringe is planning another exhibition for October. In the meantime, Randy reveals he feels Funky Fringe has "hit a sweet spot" in Murrells Inlet, where both shoppers and the surrounding neighborhoods appreciate its "Funky Fresh" vibe and dedication to showcasing creativity.
