Myrtle Beach has a new space for your four-legged furry friends to play freely. On December 12, city officials came together with local dog owners to cut the ribbon for the New Town Bark Park, located at New Town Park on 200 Collins Street. This new addition to the community is split up into two separate sections. One is for small dogs, with another area designated for larger dogs. Funding for the recently opened dog park in the heart of the city came after the Myrtle Beach City Council approved spending $120,000 in August for the bark park and other improvements at area parks. New Town Bark Park is the third off-leash bark park in Myrtle Beach. The other two off-leash Bark Parks are found off 62nd Avenue North, next to the Claire Chapin Epps Family Y, and off Mallard Lake Drive in Seagate Village, near The Market Common. Bringing your dog to an off-leash bark park provides your four-legged friend with great opportunities for exercise and socialization, as well as the chance for dogs and their owners to bond and spend quality time together.
