Several planned construction projects in Myrtle Beach will bring the city new parks and recreation amenities. Earlier this month, Myrtle Beach City Council members heard updates on multiple park projects taking place within the city. These projects include additions such as two new dog parks in the New Town Parks area, a new splash pad feature at Futrell Park, and a new disc golf course in Withers Swash Park. Local canine owners and their four-legged friends will soon get to enjoy a small dog area and large dog area near New Town Park along Collins Street and Third Avenue South. Crews are expected to begin construction on what will be the city's third dog park once new fencing arrives. Meanwhile, construction of the city's first splash pad is scheduled to start at Futrell Park in a few months. Officials relate the splash pad feature will be ready for local children and teenagers to use in late spring 2023. Lastly, outdoor enthusiasts looking to get into disc golf will be pleased to know that city officials, alongside the Myrtle Beach Disc Golf Club, are working to bring a new disc golf course to Withers Swash Park geared toward beginners and children.
